Dog Day Afternoon from ... Cat Patches

Good afternoon, my friends. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, we had grocery shopping to do this morning; thus, the lateness of my arrival here. You guys have probably already finished your coffee. I'm only on my second of three cups. If I seem a little addled, just know I'll improve with the addition of caffeine. Maybe by the end of this post, I'll even be able to speak coherently. A nap can't hurt either.

There wasn't a lot of time for quilting yesterday. Mike was busy taking measurements on my machine in order ...

Mini Mania from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It looks as if our weather will clear up a day earlier than expected. I'm looking out my window at bright daylight and blue skies. You can't ask for more than that in Oregon in December. It has been chilly. Recently I realized I was going to need to start wearing my heavier winter coat. My Gore-Tex rain parka is no longer doing the job of keeping me warm.

So just what's going on around here? Well...I finished stitching the last block for Joy in the Ordinary.

It just needed borders. When ...

Many Blocks from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It's a grocery shopping day, and so I'm writing fast this morning. It's another frosty morning. We'll be bundling up to venture out into the cold, cold world.

It was a fairly productive day yesterday. Lately I've been echoing Pennsylvania's Governor Shapiro who is fond of saying he "gets sh*t done." That's GSD to you. And that summarizes my day yesterday. I GSD. Maybe I'll just start writing in acronyms from now on. Figuring out what I'm talking about could be a good brain exercise. And ...

Catssistants from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Well, lucky me! I had so much kitty help yesterday, you absolutely would not believe it. With their help, I was able to finish off the Color My World quilt.

Before we went to work on that, though, we had slow-stitching to do. I stitched up the third of five snowmen, and then I got a start on the fourth.

Here's how it's looking. I'm more than halfway finished now.

From there, I moved my hoop to the right. Later in the afternoon, I did a little more stitching on this. I should ...

A Good Day of Sewing from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. It looks as if our epic rain storm has rained itself out. It rained almost the entire live-long day yesterday. It was very discouraging for kitties who desperately wanted to go outside. Instead, they helped mightily in the sewing room, as you're just about to see.

The blocks I'd already given borders were spread out on my design floor. (I used to have a design wall, but I never used it. The floor works better for me.)

The kitties thought I had this arrangement all wrong, and so they conspired to set things right ...

Stitching with Kitties from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. We're just a few days away from Halloween. Are you ready? Halloween is a non-event at our house. This will be our 23rd Halloween in this house, and we've never had a single trick-or-treater. It used to be fun when the boys were younger, and we figured out costumes for them. We also had a pumpkin carving evening, but no more. I miss those days.

My yesterday started with slow-stitching. As expected I finished up the first of two blocks I'm making for "The Story of My Day." It still needs borders. This ...

A Day of Rest from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. My wrist was begging for a day off from quilting, and so I relented. Actually, my wrist was just an excuse. We were slow off the blocks yesterday to do our grocery shopping. After finishing yesterday's post, I went downstairs to where Mike was sitting. "We don't have to rush out the door, do we?" he asked. And that was all the whining I needed to hear to help me decide to do my slow-stitching first. So, we weren't home until after 1:30 p.m. We found the kitties sitting in solidarity ...

Next Steps from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Since I'm here writing, you can assume I survived my dental appointment yesterday morning. The traffic was terrible driving in, and then there was a minor snafu at the parking garage. Parking downtown seems always to turn into a snafu. The drive home wasn't bad. When I arrived home, I took a too-long nap, and that cut into my sewing time for the day. I'd awakened too early in the morning with dentistry on my mind, and found it hard to get back to sleep. Thus, the nap, but I probably would have ...

Nearing a Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. I'm writing fast this morning. My morning starts early today. I have to drive into downtown Portland for a little meet-up with my dentist. I like my dentist, but on the other hand, I hate the dentist. As we've already established in a previous post, a visit with the dentist is the only thing I dislike more than taking the kitties to the vet.

Smitty is just glad he's not the one packing up (or being packed up) to go this morning. He's enjoying the one tiny patch of sunlight on our ...

Nearing a Finish from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Happy Friday to you! We're expecting some warm weather today. We have the windows open, and we're letting in the cool air while we can. It was warm yesterday too, but never warmed the house enough to require the air-conditioning.

My agenda over the next few days will be a lot of cooking things ahead. I was perusing the calendar for the next couple of weeks yesterday, and I realized I'll be making enough food ahead (and taking enough frozen leftovers) that there won't be much need for any cooking along the ...
